ARTICLE 4(2) DIRECTIONS
The Council may make an Article 4(2) Directions in respect of
properties in Conservaton Areas. The purpose of such a Direction is to protect the character and appearance of the Conservation Areas by restricting unsympathetic alterations to buildings that are considered to make important contributions to the quality of the built environment in Conservation Areas.
- This applies currently, only if you live in the Llanymynech Conservation Area. Please read notes below, for further advice.
EFFECT
The Direction makes it necessary to apply for planning permission for a variety of works, as follows:
- 1. Where the works affect an elevation facing a public road, path or steps, open space or waterway-
- Erection of an extension or other enlargement;
- Insertion, blocking or alteration of an opening;
- Insertion, removal, alteration or replacement of windows and doors;
- Erection, removal, alteration or replacement of a porch;
- Removal, alteration or addition of any other architectural feature;
- Painting or rendering of the exterior (where it is not currently painted or rendered);
- Insertion, removal or alteration of rooflights;
- Alteration of a roof including replacement in different materials to the existing;
- Erection, removal, alteration or replacement of gates, fences, walls and other means of enclosure;
- Formation of a hard standing;
- Erection or alteration of an outbuilding or enclosure;
or
- 2. Erection, removal or alteration of a chimney in any location.
