The leadership of Oswestry Borough Council has welcomed the announcement by Government that the proposal to have one main council for Shropshire will go forward to the next stage.
The One Council proposal outlines why the council thinks a unitary option is favourable to a two-tier system. The proposal shows how having one council could deliver savings by cutting bureaucracy, whilst aiming to improve services to the level of the best. It also shows how local people would have an increased role in scrutinising public services in their local communities.
