Results of Housing Transfer Ballot

The Government has said that it wants the condition of all Council homes to be improved and brought up to its Decent Homes Standard by 2010.

On the 1st November 2007 tenants in Oswestry voted to put their confidence in the Council and rejected a proposal that would have seen their homes transferred to a new local housing organisation, Oswestry Housing Association.

In a secret ballot of tenants in which 65% voted, 30.4% supported the transfer and 69.6% were opposed.
