Annual Audit Letters

All Councils in England are regularly assessed by the Audit Commission, who make a judgement on whether each council is spending public money economically, efficiently and effectively to achieve high quality local services for the public.  Their judgement is published in an annual audit letter.  In March 2007 the Commission said of Oswestry Borough Council that,

• "Oswestry BC is making good progress from an already sound base"
• "The Council is demonstrating a generally good level of improvement in its key services...[it] works well in partnership and provides good value for money."
• "The Council has made progress in its use of resources arrangements and has achieved an overall rating of three [out of four]."
