"Improving the quality of life in Oswestry Borough"

Oswestry Borough Council is committed to community development and recognizes its value to local rural communities through the establishment of the Oswestry Community Partnership and Oswestry Community Strategy. As part of the Shropshire Partnership at Shropshire County Council we have four specific delivery areas of concern with local area and public service agreement targets attached to them and these are:-

• Children and Young People
• Healthier Communities and Older Communities
• Safer and Stronger
• Sustainable Communities.

Community development offers a way of balancing local and national priorities and providing the opportunity to link up under these themes. Oswestry Borough Strategy responds to this and aims to achieve the following points:

• The kind of place that local people want Oswestry Borough to be in ten years and beyond.
• The key priorities that will be progressed by partners to move the Borough towards that vision
• How services, resources and expertise in the borough will be joined up by Oswestry Community Partnership to make sure this happens.

Everyone living and working in the borough of Oswestry is entitled to a high quality of life and effective services, which meet their needs. That is why over 100 local organisations from the public, private, voluntary and community sectors have come together under the umbrella of Oswestry Community Partnership to co-ordinate actions to improve the overall quality of life in the borough, for now and for future generations. Various delivery groups report to Oswestry Community Partnership and sit under the four strands identified by the Shropshire Partnership.
