Young Enterprise West Midlands

Make it your Business to put Enterprise into Education

Young Enterprise is the UK's largest business and enterprise education charity, with over 300,000 students involved in its programmes every year.

Young Enterprise programmes are designed on the principal of Learning by Doing, bringing volunteers from business into the classroom to work with the students and teachers.

Students learn about business first-hand, either by setting up and running their own real company, or through a continuum of classroom-based programmes. In all Young Enterprise activities the involvement of volunteers from business is an essential part of the package; the materials are written with this in mind.

Young Enterprise is a business-led organisation at all levels, in governance and delivery of programmes. Businesses help by providing volunteers and secondees as well as in-kind and financial support.

The Mission is to inspire and equip young people to learn and succeed through enterprise.

The Vision is that all young people will have the opportunity to gain personal experience of how business works, the role it plays in creating employment and prosperity, and that they will be inspired to improve their own prospects and the competitiveness of the UK.

Oswestry Borough Council are pleased to support Young Enterprise 2007-2008

Currently there are two schools in the Oswestry Borough undertaking Young Enterprise courses:

• Whittington School - Primary Programme Modules (Ourselves, Our Families, Our Community (x2), Our Nation, Our World) to 180 students
• Rhyn Park - Work Related Learning (Personal Economics) to 30 students.

More Primary and WRL programmes are expected during the academic year.
