Public Access FAQs

Below are some of the most frequently asked questions and problems when using the Public Access to Planning system. Click on any of the questions to view the answers.

Problems using "Favourites"

If you add Public Access to your favourites you would be shown an error the next time you use it from there as the information has to be pulled out of our live planning system each time you access it.

Associated Documents not appearing

Windows XP Service Pack 2 has increased security by blocking pop-up windows whilst using the internet. Public Access relies on pop-ups to provide you with results and help, which includes the associated documents for planning applications.

When you click on the Associated Documents button in Public Access, you may notice a warning message at the top of the screen telling you that the pop-up has been blocked. To let the associated documents appear, you have to click on this message, select the option to always allow pop-ups from this site, and click on the "Yes" button to confirm your choice. (see screenshots below)

Associated Documents 'Error on file' message

One reason for this may be that the associated documents are not present at this moment and are waiting to be processed. These files are updated daily, within 5 days of receipt of the planning application. The paper files are available to view at the Council's Castle View Offices, Oswestry, SY11 1JR, during normal office hours.

The second reason is that the service is still being developed, and historic applications are being added as and when possible. At the present time, not all associated documents of planning applications submitted previous to 17th November 2005 are available online.
