National 1 Application Forms (1APP)

Introducing the Standard Planning Application Form

Oswestry Borough Council's Planning Team is at the forefront of a project to introduce the National Standard Planning Application form.

The standard form (known as 1APP) is currently being developed and implemented in partnership with the Government's online resource, the Planning Portal.

When put into operation the 1APP form will be used for most types of planning applications and will deliver greater transparency, consistency and efficiency in the planning system throughout England.

The new process will make it less confusing for professionals and individuals submitting applications to different authorities and the new form will take in a wide variety of planning consent procedures, including:

• Householder applications
• Full planning permission
• Outline planning permission, including approval of reserved matters
• Listed building consent
• Conservation area consent
• Advertisement consent
• Tree works (including trees protected by a Tree Preservation Order and trees in conservation areas)
• Certificate of lawfulness of existing and proposed use or development

From April 2008, the National Standard Planning Application Form will become the only official method of submitting a planning application for most types of planning consent (except for Minerals consent and Building Control applications) for all Local Planning Authorities (LPAs) in England. 

To ensure that the movement towards the National Standard Planning Application form is achieved smoothly, Oswestry's planning service will introduce the new form with effect from 1st. February, 2008.

Planning service staff in Oswestry and in the council's main reception will understand how to complete the new forms and assist customers.  Posters and Information leaflets will also be made available to help guide agents and members of the public through the process.
