Personal LicencesA Personal Licence will be required for persons wishing to become a Designated Premises Supervisor or authorise the sale of alcohol. To obtain a personal licence you must be over 18 and you must apply to the local authority for the area in which you live. You will be required to:
Please note that an application will not be accepted unless all the above have been complied with. The certificates supplied must be originals, which will be returned once the application is completed or certified copies. Personal licences are valid for 10 years and may be used anywhere in the England & Wales. The local authority where you initially apply will continue to be the licensing authority even if you move away from the area. Designated Premises Supervisors (DPS)A Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS) is the person held responsible for authorising the sale of alcohol on licensed premises. To become a DPS you must be the holder of a Personal Licence. All premises operating under a Premises Licence to sell or supply alcohol must appoint a DPS. There can only be one DPS per licensed premise. The DPS is not required to be on the premises at all times. However, the DPS must take responsibility for what happens at the premise.
