Queen's Honours

Nominate a local hero.....

Contrary to public perception most Honours do not go to celebrities or captains of industry but instead, ordinary people doing great things for the community. These awards are highly-valued and only the most worthy candidates succeed: that is why we want your help in making sure that often unsung local heroes are identified.

In this year's New Year's Honours List, 82% of all OBEs and MBEs were for people who have undertaken charitable or voluntary service, either as part of their job or independently.

To find similarly deserving people for future Honours we are asking organisations across a range of interests - from charities and volunteers, to local and health authorities, sports and faith groups, and business - to play their part in submitting ideas for who should receive Royal recognition for working so hard on behalf of others.

Rewarding this kind of person is also a priority for the Government; the Prime Minister has said that he wants the Honours system to reflect the diversity of our communities and to include deserving people from all sections of society.
