Section 2: General Housing Policies

INTRODUCTION

3.34 - The first four policies in this chapter deal with general housing policies which apply to the whole of the Borough.

3.35 - Policy H1 explains how many new dwellings will be required in the Borough over the plan period, and breaks down how the figure is made up from a variety of sources.

3.36 - Policy H2 deals with how development will be phased over the plan period to ensure that neither too many or too few dwellings are provided, and that the rate of development keeps pace with the provision of public services and facilities.

3.37 - Policy H3 deals with the requirements of people with disabilities in relation to new housing development.

3.38 - Finally, Policy H4 sets out a number of detailed criteria which all proposed housing developments must meet before receiving planning permission. The policy aims to achieve a high standard of housing development in the Borough in terms of both the quality of housing offered and its effect on the character and amenity of surrounding areas.
