Section 4: Housing Development Outside Settlements

INTRODUCTION

3.142 - The following four policies deal with the development of new dwellings outside the settlement boundaries of the settlements named in policies H5 to H7.

3.143 - The Local Plan approach to new housing development in the countryside is to resist such development, unless there are exceptional circumstances. This approach is consistent with the Government's advice in PPG 7 and PPG 13, and is essential in order to: Protect the special countryside from unnecessary development, Promote a sustainable pattern of development, and Reduce the need to travel.
