Policy TR6: Whittington Railway Station

A site for a new railway station is allocated in Whittington, as shown on the Whittington Inset Map.

4.25 - The continuation of the passenger rail service is vital in maintaining Oswestry's status as an employment, commercial and tourist centre. The Borough Council will continue to monitor the status of the Chester to Shrewsbury line which is vital to the prosperity of the Borough and the creation of a new station at Whittington would provide a useful additional transport link. A suitable site has therefore been identified.

4.26 - The possibility of a new station at Weston Rhyn is also supported in principle although the Local Plan does not allocate a specific site. This possibility will be kept under review.
