Policy H35

Extensions to Existing Residential/Nursing Homes

The extension of existing Residential and/or Nursing Homes will be permitted provided that:

1.The site is large enough to accommodate the proposed extension, and its scale and design is in keeping with the character of the existing building, and

2. The proposal will not affect the residential and/or visual amenities of the locality, and

3. The necessary additional car parking facilities can be provided within the curtilage and without detriment to either local amenity or highway safety, and

4. A satisfactory highway access can be provided.

3.233 - The extension or alteration of existing residential or nursing homes may be acceptable in certain circumstances, provided that the development as a whole still satisfies the relevant planning requirements.
