Chapter 7: Shopping

INTRODUCTION

• 7.1 - The Local Plan's aim in relation to Shopping was set out in Chapter 2 : 'To promote the viability and vitality of the town centre by strengthening Oswestry's role as a thriving market town providing a full range of shopping, commercial and leisure facilities for the catchments area, and to ensure that these are accessible by a choice of means of transport.'
  
  
• 7.2 - Shopping patterns are changing rapidly and Oswestry is facing pressures for growth and change. The five planning policies set out below provide a comprehensive approach to dealing with new development proposals in the best interests of the Borough as a whole and the population of the catchments area.
