The Proposals Map

The Proposals Map shows: 

• The Plan Area
• The location of settlements covered by the Inset Maps
• Areas of the Borough covered by special planning designations
• Those planning policies which apply to the whole of the Plan Area

The proposals map can be found in the pocket inside the back cover of this document.

The Inset Maps

The purpose of the Inset Maps is to show how a number of the Borough's settlements are likely to change or grow over the plan period. Inset Maps for 31 settlements or areas within the Borough are set out in the following pages.

Not all settlements in the Borough have an Inset Map. This is because they are designed to show only those settlements or areas where new development will normally be permitted, to varying degrees, or where particular Local Plan policies or proposals apply.

The Inset Maps show

• Development boundaries, which are drawn around settlements or industrial areas, and beyond which general development will be very strictly controlled.
• Sites for development within settlements or areas, including sites 'allocated' in the Local Plan for housing, employment-related or other development;
• Sites for other land-uses, including Playing Fields, new School sites etc.;
• Areas where special Planning controls or designations apply, for instance Conservation Areas;

In total there are 31 Inset Maps, covering settlements or industrial areas within the Borough of Oswestry, for which the Local Plan contains policies or proposals.
