We aim to make this website accessible to all users, following certain standards and Government guidelines to ensure that this site can be used effectively and easily as possible by everyone.

One of the main objectives of Web Development at Oswestry Borough Council is to attain priority 1 status with the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI). The aim of the W3C guidelines is to explain how to make web content accessible to people with disabilities.

Content Accessibility Guidelines

Development of this site for accessibility is an ongoing process and to ensure that our website is truly accessible, the biggest test can only come from viewing pages with people who experience disability issues. We are actively producing pages that conform to the guidelines set by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines provide best practice for the use of Hyper Text Markup Language version 4.01, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI). 

This website is currently preparing for redevelopment, which will make our pages more accessible by attaining priorities 1 & 2 on the WAI standards for our content, and will include simpler layouts to make finding information easier and user-friendly.
