Pest Control

The Council is responsible for enforcing duties on land and property owners to control or eliminate such pests and, although not legally obliged to do so, provides a pest control service, which deals with public health pests free of charge in domestic properties. This work is carried out on a rechargeable basis for commercial and agricultural premises.

There is no charge for removal of pests with health risks. These include:

• Fleas
• Cockroaches
• Bed bugs
• Rats and mice.

Other insects, e.g. wasps, flies, etc are no longer treated by the council on a free basis. Please contact one of the many pest control contractors that operate in the area.You can find a comprehensive list in the yellow pages.

Pest Control Contracts: The Environmental Services Unit can provide commercial premises with a contractual service for rats and mice. We offer a free survey to all commercial premises. Contract work is charged at £39.00 per hour, and non-contract work at £66.00 per hour.  Please call Environmental Services for more details.
