LDF - Statement of Community Involvement

The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) is an integral aspect of the new planning system. It is aimed at strengthening the role of the community in the planning process. As the local planning authority, Oswestry Borough Council is required to produce an SCI that sets out the way in which the community and stakeholders will be involved.

SCI - Adoption

The Statement of Community Involvement was adopted by Oswestry Borough Council in February 2006 and is now available for purchase at £10 per copy. To download a pdf version - please go to the downloads section at the bottom of the page.

SCI - Representations and Independent Examination

The period for consultation on the Submission SCI finished on 23rd September 2005. The Council considered the representations made and forwarded all material to the Planning Inspectorate and Government Office for the West Midland. The Planning Inspector appointed to hold an Independent Examination by written representation in November 2005 has returned the binding report which is available for download at the bottom of the page.

Submission SCI

The responses received to the SCI Draft Consultation were duly considered by the Council and as a result an amended submission version of the SCI was put to Council on July 5th and accepted. Following this the SCI was submitted to the Secretary of State on Tuesday 9th August 2005 and a further 6 week consultation period conducted which finished on Friday 23rd September 2005.

SCI Consultation

The Council's Cabinet approved a consultation draft version of the SCI on 24th January 2005. Public consultation was conducted for a period of six weeks starting on 14th March 2005 and ending on 22nd April 2005. Click on the link below for a copy of the consultation SCI.

SCI Questionnaire

To help us prepare our draft SCI and to ensure that we tailor our approach, using methods of involvement and consultation most relevant to the 'Oswestry Borough Community' and it's various stakeholders, a questionnaire survey of views was carried out in late 2004.

The questionnaire asked for feedback on:

• Past experiences of community involvement and consultation exercises;
• What methods of involvement and consultation would best meet your needs;
• How you would like to be kept informed as to progress in preparing the LDF.
