Chester to Shrewsbury Line

The Chester to Shrewsbury line is an important part of Arriva Trains Wales network, travelling through the Border Counties of Cheshire, Wrexham and Shropshire.

The Chester-Shrewsbury Rail Partnership was established to secure improvements to the line, and the Community Rail Officer works to promote the line and secure improvements to facilities and services.

Travel along this line is becoming increasingly popular - over the past three years the number of passenger journeys has doubled. According to the Strategic Rail Authority over a period of seven years passenger use on this line has increased 300%.

Later this year the service on the Chester to Shrewsbury line will be increased to a full hourly train service. Direct trains to Holyhead, Cardiff and Birmingham will stop at all our stations, and connections for other destinations can be made at Chester and Shrewsbury (Mon - Sat).
