How to Appeal

What happens if I disagree with your decision?

If you want to know more about a Council Tax / Housing Benefit decision or if your think a decision is wrong.

Please contact the benefits section and an explanation will be presented to you.  If you think a decision is wrong, please tell us why. You should contact us within one month of the date of notification, or we may not be able to consider any dispute.

What happens after the decision is looked at again?

If the decision can be changed, we will send you a new decision. If we cannot change the decision we will tell you why. You will have the right of appeal against the decision, but must do so within one month. Further information on the disputes and appeals process can be found in the leaflet Housing/Council Tax Benefit Appeals. 

How to Appeal

If you want to appeal you should fill in the leaflet Housing/Council Tax Benefit Appeals. This leaflet is available from the Benefits Section at Castle View.

If your Housing/Council Tax Benefit decision can not be revised to your advantage, an Independent Appeal Tribunal will hear your Appeal.
