Visitor InfrastructurePlease use the links below to jump to the sections you wish to view, or scroll down this page to view the sections in order. Coach Park To help promote tourism and provide a better visitor experience in the area, a range of new facilities and improved attractions are being provided. These include: Coach ParkA new Coach park adjacent to the station building has been open to tourist coaches since August and has been very popular on market days. It will serve the new Visitor centre in the Station Building when this is opened in Spring 2006. The waiting room at Gobowen Station is being enlarged and improved to enhance and assist visitors to the area and local passengers and will also have all facilities and equipment to be used as a meeting room in the evenings. Brown SignsBrown signs are being adapted to direct people to new facilities within the Borough, particularly the Station Building when it opens, but also including the Hill Fort and Ifton Meadows. Park Hall Victorian SchoolThe Park Hall Victorian School, a new attraction in the area at Park Hall farm, offers visitors the chance to experience a typical late-Victorian lesson in authentic clothes and surroundings. The project contributed towards the purchase of the Victorian collection, and conversion of barns into a school-room and museum displays. This has increased numbers of visitors to the site, and has seen the attraction bucking the regional downward trend in visitor numbers this year by showing an 8% increase. Oswestry South Signal BoxThe dilapidated Oswestry South Signal Box has received a grant to provide materials for its renovation and interpretation within what will become a new Railway Heritage Quarter of Oswestry. The work is being undertaken mainly by specialist volunteers as part of The Oswestry Railway Centre. Ifton Meadows Nature ReserveNew gates and a pathway at Ifton Meadows Local Nature Reserve enables wheel-chairs and pushchairs to enter the site, improving access for everyone, and paving the way for future enhancement projects. Plas Ffynnon FieldsPlas Ffynnon Fields has received assistance to provide signage to, and interpretation at the site(s). Visitor numbers and profiles are being monitored at all sites to provide us with useful feedback as the projects progress.
