What is Public Access?

'Public Access' for planning is an on-line Internet service that allows you to view details including associated plans and documents of planning applications being considered by the Council. You can monitor the progress of an application, submit comments* about the application, search a constantly updated list of applications received and decided each week, view details of many historic applications and view property details by reference to a map. Enter Public Access using the link at the top of this page.

What can I do in Public Access?

Using the Left hand menu you can:

Application Search - Application number, type, status, Decision, Appeal Status, Appeal Decision, Ward, Parish, Agent or between dates.
Property Search - You can search for a property, then choose the info tab and use the drop down menu to choose whether to search for a Planning Application, an Appeal or an Enforcement.
Weekly List
1. Select a weekly list from the drop down menu.
2. Choose to view 'Validated' or 'Decided'.
  N.B. Applications will appear in the appropriate list only once they have been entered into the planning system, so please keep checking.
Special Interest section provides a list of Planning Applications that the local authority has identified as being of particular interest to the public. NOTE: For reasons of confidentiality, Oswestry Borough Council may choose not to display certain Planning Applications.
View Map - planning applications show up in red on the map, you can
1. Zoom in/out and pan around to see where there are applications.
2. Above the map window select from the drop down menu 'Planning Application' then use the Identify button (black circle with an 'i' in it) and click on the application on the map you are interested in to view the details.
3. The blue dots on the map represent property addresses to view the details, select from the drop down menu 'Properties' then use the Identify button (black circle with an 'i' in it) and click on the application on the map you are interested in to view the details.

Limitations

The service continues to be developed. However at the present time, not all associated documents of planning applications submitted previous to 17th November 2005 are available online.

The online planning history contained within the site at present is incomplete and must not be used as a substitute for carrying out a formal 'Land Charge Search'. No responsibility will be taken for any errors or omissions in the planning history information obtained from 'Public Access'. Similarly the information contained within Public Access does not constitute in any way a formal notification of a planning decision, and as such any actions taken as a result of information displayed on the site are undertaken entirely at the viewer's own risk.

Under normal circumstances the plans and documents associated with new planning applications will be able to be viewed within 5 working days of receipt of the application. If none are displayed at the time, you may wish to try a few days later or alternatively you will be able to view the application and associated documents at the Council's Castle View Offices, Oswestry, SY11 1JR, during normal office hours. At the present time no documents associated with Agricultural Notifications or Demolition Notices are being displayed on the system.

Plans, drawing and material submitted to the Council are protected by the Copyright Acts (Section 47, 1988 Act). You may for your personal only use material which is downloaded and/or printed for consultation purposes, to compare current applications with previous schemes and to check whether developments have been completed in accordance with approved plans. Further reproduction or copies must not be made without the prior permission of the copyright owner.
