Fly Tipping

Fly-tipping concerns the collection of materials that have been dumped without permission on the highway or land under the control or ownership of the Council. In these circumstances the Council will remove the rubbish.

However, if you are the owner of the land where flytipping has occurred, you would be charged for the collection.

In cases where you have witnessed flytipping, the Council would consider prosecution if you could supply details of what you saw. The Council ensures confidentiality if the customer gives this information.

If the Council decides to prosecute, you would be required to provide a written statement about what you saw. Occasionally the witness might be required to attend court and give evidence.
