Core Strategy DPD

The core strategy is the principal document in the LDF containing the Council's vision and spatial strategy for the future development of the Borough. The core strategy identifies the development needs for the Borough and the broad locations for new developments to meet these needs. The core strategy also includes a key diagram to illustrate information. The core strategy needs to have conformity with the West Midlands Spatial Strategy and have regard to the Sustainable Community Strategy. The core strategy is the LDD with which all other Development Plan Documents and Supplementary Planning Documents need to be in conformity.

Site Allocations DPD

This LDD identifies the site allocations that will be required to deliver the vision set out in the Strategy. It will cover all site allocations.

Development Control DPD

A suite of generic development control policies are included in this separate LDD. Policies within this document will be applicable on a Borough wide basis. These policies provide a discrete and succinct basis against which the detail of specific development proposals can be considered.

Proposal Map DPD

This will provide an Ordnance Survey based map illustrating the up to date planning strategy for the area in terms of main proposals, designations, locations and areas where specific DPD policies apply.

Issues and Options Report

As an initial stage in the Oswestry Borough LDF process the Council prepared an Issues & Options Report to lead the debate and generate discussion about how the Borough, the town of Oswestry and surrounding rural settlements might develop and change over the next 10-15 years. This report looked at the three Development Plan Documents (DPDs) listed above.

Oswestry Borough Council consulted on the Issues and Options report between 7th February 2006 and 31st March 2006.

The Council has now summarised the 452 representations received and a summary document has been published on the website. Revised maps are also available showing the additional sites that have been put forward through the consultation process. To download these documents go to the bottom of the page. Printed copies of this summary are available for purchase at £25 - please contact the Forward Planning section if you would like a copy (details below).

Please note that we have not allocated any new sites for development yet.
